Billboard Shoot

I had my first image on a billboard about a year ago, and now I have another one. Here's a photo that St. Thomas More Catholic School shared on Facebook recently:

On top of Green Mill Pizza on Grand Ave in St. Paul.

The file used for the billboard.

That was a socially-distant photoshoot I did for them about 3 months ago. They've also been using this image a lot from the same shoot:

They have that image as the "cover photo" on their Facebook page...

... and they've been using it for their "virtual info nights" as well.

Always fun doing things I'm less comfortable with! And by "fun" I mean "mildly terrifying." At least kids are always easy to work with...

Another STM Shot

Apparently there was a second decent photo that came out of the billboard photo shoot at my sons's school. This past weekend, another one of my photos was on the cover of the parish bulletin:

That's 3 of my oldest son's classmates, and 2 other kids I had just met.

The image also appeared on the Church's Facebook page, and also on the school website:

Photoshoot for St. Thomas More School

At the end of last year, I did a quick photoshoot for my sons' school here in St. Paul. I didn't pick the kids, but that's my youngest 2nd to the right with some of his classmates:

A few days ago, that image appeared a 1/2 mile from school on a billboard on Grand Ave here in St. Paul:

A friend sent me a pic right away saying she saw my son on her drive home from work.

And today, I also spotted that image in the Villager, a newspaper for the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul:

I've never had a photo on a billboard before. It was fun working on something I'm not used to (or comfortable) doing.

But working with kindergartners also reminded me that I made the right career move by being a college professor. I'm happy to work with young adults any day. God bless kindergarten teachers!

Quick Minnesota State Fair Project

Last month, someone from the Minnesota State Fair reached out to me to see if I could do a quick project for them. They needed 2 photos of local landmarks for a little "Minnesota history" shade structure on the north end. The fair ended last week, but I was able to stop with my boys during the fair to see what they did with my photos.

My 8-year-old standing next to 1 of the 2 structures on the plaza (the 2nd being farther off in the distance).

Above Henry in that last photo was an image I made of the "Pillsbury Flour" sign
(next to Judy Garland and Totino's Pizza - good company!).

On the other structure was my "Gold Medal Flour" photo (in the middle).

I joked with Keri (the person from the State Fair who I worked with) that these were some of the least
artistic photos I'd ever made. But it's what they wanted/needed for their designers to do their thing.

My boys loved seeing the Stenzel name in the credits.

Thanks Minnesota State Fair! Let me know if I can help before the 2020 fair!
