ICE-Related Photographs from 4 a.m.

With the current state of things in Minnesota, I felt moved to head out to make some more "4 a.m." photographs - something I really haven't done for about two years. Here are a few photos from some recent outings:

Re-Framing a '4 a.m.' Print for a Friend

One of my 4 a.m. photos started slipping in it's frame. So I made a house call to correct the issue.

Once I got it unframed. (Or "deframed?")

If either of these sharpie labels mean anything to you,
you know how I first met this person and who this person is! :)

Secured, cleaned, and re-framed!

Getting the wire to grab the hook on the wall...

... and then getting it level.

It should be good as new - maybe better. Loved seeing that bigger piece again!

From 3 years ago, here's a post with every photograph shown in my solo "4 a.m." exhibition, and here are exhibition photos from that solo show where you can see this framed print in some of the first and last images.

10 Year Anniversary of the "4 a.m." Series

A photo showed up in my Facebook Memories, and I had to share the longer story. This was the first image that ended up turning into the 4 a.m. series before I knew it was going to turn into a series.

I really thought about including this image in my solo exhibition 2 years ago, but it just wasn't up to par. I still enjoy it because it's where this series started.

Exhibition Photos from the Concordia University Faculty Show

Here are some pics from the faculty exhibition that I was in a few months ago at Concordia University:

Entering the main gallery, there's John, a piece by Keith, and some prints of mine.

A bunch of my prints behind another piece of Keith's.

My prints were all from the mini State Fair series I had shot the previous summer/fall.

Two larger prints on their own wall.

A selfie to show the scale of these prints - the largest I've made.

My artist statement on the wall.

A view of some of my pieces.

A panoramic image of the main gallery.

Back in the first space.

The Faculty Exhibition at the Concordia Gallery

The 2023 Art and Design Faculty Exhibition opened last week at the Concordia Gallery. I snapped a few photos with my phone before it was busy:

My 2 larger prints to the right, and 9 smaller prints on the far wall.

Here are few pics of some of the corners of the gallery - I didn't take any photos in the Teaching Gallery, but there's more work in there as well:

I'll take some "real" photos with my "real" camera in the upcoming week or 2, so stop back to see better images that you can enlarge.

2022 MCAD Art Sale

This past weekend was the bigger-every-year MCAD Art Sale. I stopped by Friday night and took a quick look around before I became too overwhelmed. Here are a few pics:

The main gallery and lines for checking out.

The main gallery.

The photography hallway.

One of my pieces at the upper left.

More of the photo hallway - I have a piece in the upper right and the one two spots to the left of that one.

Other side of the photo hallway.

Paintings back by the auditorium.

More paintings.

In the hallway to the studios.

A tiny section of the furniture area upstairs.

A lot of temporary walls set up in the lounge area on the 2nd floor.

More 2nd floor art.

The north side of the lounge area on the 2nd floor.

Heading toward the illustation section above the main gallery.

Over by the boutique (but I never made it all the way back to the boutique on the far right).

One final trip down the photo hallway.

I ended up selling a handful of pieces, so I'm happy to be bringing back home less than I dropped off!
